Survey of Innovation in the Tourism Sector, 2009

The National Institute of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (NIHERST) conducted a Survey of Innovation in the Tourism Sector during the period December 2009 to January 2010.

The objective of this study is to obtain information on the innovative activities of establishments in the industry including:

• the types of innovative activities undertaken and the reasons for undertaking such activities,

• the obstacles/hindrances to innovation,

• the impact of innovation on key performance indicators,

• the role of linkages for the acquisition of information and collaboration leading to innovation, and

• the role of research and development in the innovation process.

The data are being analysed and upon completion a report on the results of the survey will be published shortly.
