Survey of Social Science Graduates, 2007

The Science and Technology Statistical Unit is conducting a survey of graduates of the five year period, 2001 to 2005, from the Faculty of Social Sciences at The University of the West Indies. Social sciences account for 25% of the total output of graduates from UWI.

This study will focus on factors such as: employment / underemployment, entrepreneurship, marketability and supply, job satisfaction, remuneration and industrial training needs of the graduates. Indicators on the relevance and duration of programmes of studies and suggested modification, migration and post-graduate studies will also be produced. Information collected will assist in evaluating policies on higher education and on the demand and supply of science and technology personnel contributing to the development of a knowledge-based economy.

A representative sample of 460 graduates in the social sciences was selected to participate in the survey.
