The NIHERST/NGC National Science Centre has taken seriously the government’s mandate to popularise Science & Technology in Trinidad & Tobago.  With this in mind the Science Whizz competition was introduced as a means of encouraging our young people to become more interested in science.

The Science Whizz Competition has its roots in the highly successful Sci-TechKnoFest 1997, where science concepts were presented in a fun and exciting way through various science shows. From observing these performances, it was recognised that our people could do shows of similar calibre if only a forum were available. With its major sponsor, The National Gas Company of Trinidad & Tobago, NIHERST took on this challenge.
