NIHERST | E-Scientia Launch
E-Scientia Launch

E-Scientia is the latest addition to the permanent exhibits at the NIHERST National Science Centre. It was developed by IEEE, with whom NIHERST signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in 2015. The exhibit was donated through funding from the IEEE Humanitarian Activities Ad Hoc Committee. NIHERST also collaborates with the IEEE T&T section on other science education activities. We were, therefore, delighted to have so many IEEE representatives from other countries as well as Trinidad and Tobago able to be at the launch on 2nd March 2016,

E-Scientia will give students a new level of immersion into cutting-edge science and engineering. We were very excited to acquire the exhibit and are certain it will be an impactful learning experience for all. E-Scientia is an outstanding example of the engaging, hands-on science education approach that NIHERST promotes.

As a hands-on science center exhibit, it will engage pre-university students with engineering and technology and raise awareness about careers in these disciplines. Developed through partnerships between IEEE Sections and science centers, IEEE E-Scientia enables IEEE volunteers to make informal engineering and technology education opportunities available to teachers and students within their local communities. E-Scientia takes visitors on an engineering-themed adventure using multimedia interactives and hands-on exploration of science and technology concepts. During the experience, students are challenged to take on the role of engineers to solve real-world technology problems.

The Trinidad and Tobago exhibit is one of only seven of its kind in the world.

NIHERST hopes that the public will enjoy being transported by E-Scientia to another dimension of learning, and a deeper understanding of the complex science and technology it explores.
