is an “interactive”,
“truly hands-on”,
“entertaining”,
“challenging” and
“activity filled” area which was developed to
“ignite the desire for discovery and innovation
in pre-school aged children”.
The Kidiplay Science
packages encompass different learning styles to address the six (6) science
curriculum strands of the Ministry of Education. The themed visit
incorporates hands-on activities, craft, puppet theatre, interactive
exhibits, simple experiments, drama and movement.

The parts of the body are learnt using the model skeleton, body organ vests,
songs, games, stories, drama and our exercise Kidiplay house and Play Park.
“Eat Right”

Eating healthy foods is explored in our Kidiplay shop, where children make
their own food choices. A healthy lunch kit is packed. “Go, Glow and Grow “
foods are discovered and the food pyramid built. The children ‘feed’ ‘Hungry
Lips” with breakfast lunch and dinner. Songs, puzzles and activities abound.

Personal and Dental Hygiene is explored through puppets, models and puzzles.
“Which Habitat is Mine?” or “Where Do I Live?”

Science curriculum strand” Ecosystems.
Animals and plants, together with non-living things, are placed by the
children on NSC’s environment model, which shows marine, river, pond, swamp,
rainforest and terrestrial habitats, and urban, rural and industrial
landscapes. The children further explore habitats, observing the fish,
lobsters, turtles, and other organisms in our aquaria.
“Where Do I Belong?”

Animals and plants are sorted according to their common features.
Through observation, children get an understanding of different living
organisms in the aquaria and their characteristics.
“Recycle It!”

Litter identification and sorting game.
Children participate in the Recycling Game and get to make recycled paper
and an animal from recycled material.
“Sense This” or “See, Hear, Taste, Smell and Feel”

Science Strand: Living Things
Explore the 5 senses through smelling, hearing, tasting and seeing
activities. Touch the ‘feely’ wall of different textures. Discover the
‘Sound Focus’ and ‘Blind Spot’ exhibits and see how the ear, eye, skin, nose
and hands do their job.
“Energy For All”

Make choices in the Kidiplay shop to find out which foods give us energy.
Discover which household devices use energy, why it cannot be wasted, and
how energy is transformed from one form to another. Try our bike generator
and hand generator.
“Over The Moon”

Explore night and day through stories and drama. Look at the amazing night
sky under our planetarium dome. Craft the phases of the moon so you can
display in your classroom on the correct night.

Work with NSC’s environment model on the effects of pollution, the dumping
of rubbish, deforestation, squatting and flooding.

Laboratory activity engages children in investigating the properties of
solids, liquids and gases. Have fun making raisins and chocolate chips dance
and balloons magically inflate.
“Flying in the Wind”
Science curriculum level: Standard 1
Science curriculum strand: Energy
Feel hurricane winds in our hurricane house. Make a parachute or anything
you like and fly them in our wind tube.
Make and fly a paper plane, a rotocopter, a kite or make and twirl a
windmill. Listen to a story.
