Delegation from Makerere University in Uganda visits Trinidad

A delegation of top officials from Makerere University visited Trinidad from June 9 to June 15. The tour was initiated by His Excellency Patrick Edwards, Trinidad and Tobago High Commissioner to Uganda, to reinforce the links between the two countries that had been established in the 1960s. The delegates were:

  • Prof. George Mondo Kagonyera, Chancellor, Makerere University;

  • Prof. Samuel Kyamanywa, Principal, College of Agriculture and Environmental Science;

  • Prof. William Bazeyo, Dean School of Public Health;

  • Prof. Oswald Kyamulesire Ndoleriire, Ag. Principal, College of Humanities and Social Sciences;

  • Dr. Henry Mwanaki Alinaitwe, Dean College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology;

  • Prof. John Robert Ikoja-Odongo, Ag. Principal, College of Computing and Information Science;

  • Prof. Mugisha Joseph Tindimubona, Principal, College of Natural Sciences; and

  • Ds. Catherine Kanabahita, Director, Gender Mainstreaming Department.

During their stay, they visited UWI, UTT, COSTAATT and other education and training institutions to explore possibilities for collaboration.

On the morning of Thursday 14, the delegates met officials from NIHERST. They toured the National Science Centre and were particularly impressed by the CDL and Robomania Labs. In the afternoon, they paid a visit to the exhibition: India: A Culture of Science, currently on at Divali Nagar and were very impressed by all that is on show there.
