World Water Day 2015

March 22nd marked the United Nations World Water Day 2015 which is aimed at raising awareness around global issues affecting water supply and water resource management. This year's theme of Water and Sustainable Development, speaks to the need for greater effort towards sustainable water practices in ensuring the delivery of safe, clean water for all. NIHERST, with its community partners, is dedicated to improving the lives of the people of Trinidad and Tobago through eco-friendly, community-driven, water security initiatives and supporting a holistic approach to water resource management.

NIHERST has been leading the way in sustainable water resource management in Trinidad and Tobago for many years. The institute fosters student innovation applied to water security; promotes public education with its Science Music Video Competition and has been supporting the installation of safer, cleaner rainwater harvesting systems in water-scarce communities.
